About The Lending Journey
"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill
The Lending Journey is a Canadian registered non-profit microfinance charity. "We are a hand-up that helps the poor out." We are faith-based serving the the poor with compassion and respect. We offer micro loans and entrepreneurial training to women who desire to move beyond their present socio-economic challenges.
Though we are located in Canada we have feet on the ground in every community that we work in. Our community leaders are responsible for the day-to-day management in their respective communities. These leaders are well connected within the communities we serve, which allows them to identify those with the greatest need. Read more about The Lending Journey's structure.
We are a very unique lending organization. We are not a meet, vet, loan and collect charity. We want to ensure the success of each borrower recognizing their unique circumstances. We believe we achieve success, when our borrowers receive quality training and development. But it does not end here; our leaders walk alongside each person, encouraging them and letting them know "we see them."
Mission Statement
To operate as a Christian non-profit microfinance charity working with the most economically and socially vulnerable in Latin America, focusing on single mother and woman entrepreneurs to build businesses that provide their families with long-term sustainable income.
We will provide the resources to help facilitate the best outcomes for our microloan borrowers with training and compassion by walking along side them when they are experiencing both success and challenges. "We will never leave their sides".
Our Structure
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16, NIV
Global Structure
The Lending Journey is a Canadian-based legally registered Christian non-profit microfinance charity. Our head office is located in Canada and is lead by its founder and Executive Director Vince Vetro and Canadian Board of Directors in accordance with Canadian laws. All positions are volunteer and unpaid. We are legally registered as a charity in each country we work in.
In Country Structure
Our success as a microloan charity is due to our people on the ground who are responsible for the day-to-day operations.
Each country is headed by an in-country Director who is both the legal representative and accountable for the country's operations including financial reporting, key performance tracking and managing community leaders. The Country Director reports directly to the Executive Director.
To be successful at forging strong community relationships, each community has a Community Leader who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of The Lending Journey in each community. The are responsible for relations with local churches and social workers, community outreach and managing microloan applications and repayments. They are also the catalyst for what make us so very different from other microfinance charities:
-
they lead a weekly, 26 week training program designed to build confidence and personal value and build a strong business;
-
they build personal relationships with every borrower; a personal bond through which every borrower has support beyond their business.
